ABOUT MVCAA Missouri Valley Community Action Agency (MVCAA) was founded in 1965. Its mission is to engage communities and focus resources to end poverty. MVCAA is one of 19 Community
Action Agencies located in Like its sister organizations, MVCAA is a locally controlled, private, nonprofit, 501(c)(3) charitable organization whose purpose is to sponsor and operate community action programs designed to help local residents become more self-sufficient. A local Board of Directors oversees MVCAA’s Leadership Team and its staff of 153 to ensure that the organization runs smoothly. Over the past 40 years MVCAA’s service area has grown to include Ray, Carroll,
Chariton, Guided by the Community Action Promise, we began over 40 years ago with a $50,000 grant to operate three centers offering services to about 60 children. MVCAA now administers a budget of about $9.7 million, and offers combined services annually to over 8,000 children, youth, and adults at 19 sites within our seven county area.
