Housing Partnership has a comprehensive supportive service program which includes Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program, Home Weatherization, Home Buyer Education, Energy Conservation Classes, Affordable Housing Development and the Supportive Housing Program.

Section 8 HCV Program- ensures decent, safe, sanitary, and affordable housing for very low income families through a voucher program. Landlords on the program are obligated to maintain the unit in a safe and livable condition. For application information, call the MVCAA Central office at 660-886-7476 and ask for Section 8.

Weatherization- provides safe, energy efficient and comfortable housing for people with low income targeting physically disadvantaged, elderly, children and others hit hardest by the energy crisis. Energy-efficient measures installed in the home result in lower utility bills year after year.

Weatherization has an important story to tell. Weatherization Works! Everyday weatherization helps low-income families conserve energy, save money, and improve their living conditions. The process of weatherizing a home can even save lives, as all combustion appliances are tested for efficiency and safety. Applications for Weatherization are accepted by appointment at any MVCAA Family Resource Center in our service area.

All Weatherization measures are cost tested using a computerized audit system to ensure only the most cost-effective measures are performed. A final inspection is performed to ensure quality and satisfaction.

Home Buyer Education - is a two part course. The first part deals with money management including checking and savings accounts, spending plans, getting a loan, predatory lending practices, insurance needs, and credit report review.

The second part of the Home Buyer program consists of information about real estate procedures, truth-in-lending laws, shopping for a mortgage and protecting and maintaining your home. All of the topics are covered either in a traditional classroom setting or in a self-paced home study method. With either of these settings, the participant will have access to knowledgeable people who can help them gain control of their finances or give them some guidance on the path toward homeownership. Either part of the Home Buyer Education is available as a stand-alone class and does not have to be taken in conjunction with the other class. For additional information, call the MVCAA Central office at 660-886-7476 and ask for the Housing Property Manager.

Energy Conservation Class - consists of information and tips that most individuals can use to make their home more energy efficient and to reduce utility costs. It has thought provoking material for those who are in the process of designing or building homes and want to weigh the options of spending more for energy effective materials initially or use more dollars for long term energy costs. The program also has simple "fixes" for those who just want to reduce energy expenses in their current homes. For additional information, call the MVCAA Central office at 660-886-7476 and ask for the Housing Property Manager.

Affordable Housing Development - MVCAA has partnered with several local entities in our seven county service area to increase the availability of safe, decent, affordable housing. These joint ventures have resulted in the development or remodeling of apartment complexes and the construction of single family dwellings. The Housing Partnership looks forward to developing alliances with the cities, counties, Public Housing Authorities and organizations in the service area in order to serve all the households and individuals more completely.

Supportive Housing Program (SHP) – provides permanent housing and support services for persons who are both disabled and homeless. The SHP is modeled after the Section 8 HCV program.  For additional information, call the MVCAA Central office at 660-886-7476 and ask for the Housing Social Services Manager.
