For the past 40 years Missouri Valley Community Action Agency has achieved quality results from our dedicated staff, volunteers, customers, and donor family through comprehensive services, community partnerships, and charitable giving.

 

Selected Program Year 2006 Outcome of Efforts

·         923 individuals obtained a job or increased their employment income.

·         84 individuals achieved a “living wage.”

·         39 individuals completed their ABE/GED training and received a certificate or diploma.

·         58 safe and affordable housing units in the community were preserved or improved through construction, weatherization, or rehabilitation.

·         47 accessible, safe, and affordable child care or child development placement opportunities were created or maintained for low income families.

·         161 community members were mobilized by community action to participate in community revitalization and anti-poverty initiatives.

·         26 low income individuals purchased their own home as a result of community action assistance.

·         89 organizational partnerships—public, private, and/or faith-based—were created to expand opportunities for low income individuals and families.

·         1,018 “vulnerable” individuals (e.g., seniors, disabled) received services from community action to assist them in maintaining an independent living situation.

·         2,994 low income individuals and families were provided emergency assistance.

·         1,716 children received needed immunizations, dental, and medical care.

·         542 children participated in pre-school activities to develop school readiness skills.

·         291 children who participated in pre-school activities were made developmentally ready to enter kindergarten.

·         490 parents and other adults learned and exhibited improved family functioning skills.

·         121 families obtained safe and affordable housing.

·         589 referrals were made by MVCAA to other agencies to ensure individuals and families obtained the specialized help they needed.
